Weingarten Rights give unionized employees the right to union representation during any meeting with an administrator or supervisor that could lead to discipline.
Process
If you’re called into a meeting and believe it could result in disciplinary action, you have the right to request a union representative.
Once requested, the employer must either:
- Allow the union rep to be present
- Cancel or postpone the meeting
- Give you the choice to continue without representation (not recommended).
What Can Union Reps Do During A Meeting?
- Assist and advise you during the meeting
- Ask for clarification as needed
- Take notes on your behalf
